"BABY BITS" is a FREE Baby Coaching service of Smile at Your Baby!  One BABY BIT will be posted or sent to everyone (text to U.S. and Canadian numbers only, please) that signs up, each and every Monday - Friday (not including holidays).  The purpose of this service is to foster bonding and attachment between parents and their infants and/or toddlers (newborn to age 3)

BABY BIT for Tues. Mar.20, 2012 Flower 5-10 times today show baby a flower, point one out in a book, take baby outside, whenever and where ever you come across one, smile and say flower. Ask baby to say flower. Smile and say, "flower, good!" :D

BABY BIT for Thurs. Feb. 16, 2012 Today, see if you can cut your stroller and/or playpen use in half by holding baby instead. Hold baby facing in towards YOU, talk to baby and make lots of eye contact. A sling works very well for this. Have you considered using one? The more body to body contact baby has with you each day, the better your bond will be. :D

BABY BIT for Wed. Feb. 15, 2012 Sponge, Parrot & Hawk. Baby watches YOU like a hawk. Baby parrots what YOU do & say. Baby is a sponge! Be the example. Baby will do what YOU do. If you don't want baby to curse, don't curse. Use your manners, say please and thank you. Be kind. You'll be glad you made the effort! 

BABY BIT for Mon. Feb. 13, 2012 Lie in bed with baby chest to chest (bare chested mom, dad & baby are FINE) and snuggle. Stroke baby's hair. Roll on your side with baby next to you and smile at baby. Stroke baby's arms and legs and back. Make eye contact. Tell baby you love her. Do this twice today for 15 min each time. Let it be natural.  :D

BABY BIT for Thur. Feb. 9, 2012 When a parent bonds with baby, and baby attaches to parent in return something wonderful happens! A stable emotional foundation that baby will build on for the rest of her life. Baby will have higher self esteem, will know how to trust and will have happier, healthier relationships in the future.

BABY BIT for Wed. Feb. 8, 2012 Play "This Little Piggy" with baby 3 times today on each foot. End with big hug and a kiss and tell baby you love her! :D

BABY BIT for Tues. Feb. 7, 2012 "soft" Practice saying soft and learning what it means with baby today. Brush baby's blanket across her cheek, hands, feet, and say soft. Find other soft items and do the same thing. Make lots of eye contact and smile :D

These things can be done while dressing baby in the morning, while feeding baby breakfast, in the car, on the couch or floor, at the table or in the bathtub--they'll all be super EASY!
